Welcome to Coincert. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Coincert mobile and desktop application (the “App”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
This agreement may be updated periodically.
1. About Coincert
Coincert is a personal finance application available for iOS and macOS that helps you track your spending, link financial accounts, and manage your budget. The App allows you to:
- Manually enter financial transactions
- Link bank accounts, credit cards, and investment accounts via Plaid
- Access Apple Card and Apple Cash data via Apple FinanceKit
- Sync data across devices using iCloud
- Import transaction data from CSV files
- Categorize transactions and generate spending insights
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Coincert. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are 18 years of age or older and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
3. License to Use
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on devices you own or control for your personal, non-commercial use.
You may NOT:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the App
- Distribute, sublicense, lease, rent, or lend the App to third parties
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
- Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
4. Your Account and Data
4.1 Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
- The accuracy of financial data you enter into the App
- Maintaining the security of your device and iCloud account
- Any actions taken using your device or account
- Protecting your Plaid and FinanceKit credentials
4.2 Data Ownership
You retain all ownership rights to your financial data. We do not claim ownership of any data you enter, import, or sync via the App.
4.3 Data Retention and Deletion
- All data is stored on your device and/or in your personal iCloud account
- You can delete your data at any time via the App’s settings
- If you uninstall the App, data stored on your device will be deleted
- Data synced to iCloud will remain in your iCloud account unless you manually delete it
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 Plaid
When you link financial accounts via Plaid, you are agreeing to Plaid’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for Plaid’s services, data handling, or any issues arising from your use of Plaid.

5.2 Apple FinanceKit
When you authorize FinanceKit access, you are subject to Apple’s terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for Apple’s services or data handling.

5.3 Apple iCloud
If you enable iCloud sync, you are subject to Apple’s iCloud Terms of Service. We are not responsible for iCloud service interruptions, data loss, or other issues related to iCloud.

6. Financial Information Disclaimer
IMPORTANT: Coincert is NOT a financial advisor, accountant, or financial institution.
- The App provides tools for tracking and organizing financial data, but does NOT provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
- Transaction data imported from Plaid, FinanceKit, or CSV files is provided “as is” and may contain errors or delays.
- We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of financial data.
- You should consult a qualified financial professional for financial advice.
- All financial decisions you make based on data in the App are your sole responsibility.
Read-Only Access: Coincert CANNOT initiate transactions, transfer funds, or make changes to your financial accounts. All account connections are read-only.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
- Warranties that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or free of viruses
- Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of financial data
We do not guarantee that:
- The App will meet your specific requirements
- Plaid, FinanceKit, or iCloud integrations will always be available or functional
- Your data will be backed up or recoverable in all circumstances
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
- Damages arising from your use or inability to use the App
- Damages arising from third-party services (Plaid, FinanceKit, iCloud)
- Financial losses or decisions made based on data in the App
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP (IF ANY) IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
9. Data Loss
While we strive to provide a reliable experience, WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DATA LOSS due to:
- Device failure, loss, or theft
- iCloud sync errors or iCloud service interruptions
- Software bugs or App crashes
- User error (accidental deletion, etc.)
- Third-party service failures (Plaid, Apple services)
You are responsible for backing up your data. We recommend exporting your data regularly as CSV files.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to use the App to:
- Engage in any illegal or fraudulent activity
- Violate the rights of others (privacy, intellectual property, etc.)
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to third-party accounts or systems
- Interfere with the App’s functionality or security features
- Upload or transmit malware, viruses, or malicious code
We reserve the right to terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms.
11. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the App (including code, design, trademarks, and logos) are owned by us or our licensors. You do not acquire any ownership rights by using the App.
“Coincert” and associated logos are trademarks. You may not use our trademarks without prior written permission.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Coincert, its developers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Financial decisions you make based on data in the App
13. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms.
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device.
Upon termination:
- Your license to use the App will immediately end
- You must delete the App from all devices
- Data stored on your device will be deleted (iCloud data will remain unless you delete it manually)
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. Significant changes will be communicated via the App or email (if you have provided one).
Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Apple-Specific Terms
Because Coincert is distributed via the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:
15.1 Acknowledgment
You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Coincert, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
15.2 Scope of License
The license granted to you is limited to a non-transferable license to use the App on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.
15.3 Maintenance and Support
Coincert, not Apple, is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the App.
15.4 Warranty
To the extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the App. Any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses arising from the App are the responsibility of Coincert, not Apple.
15.5 Product Claims
Coincert, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including:
- Product liability claims
- Claims that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements
- Claims arising under consumer protection laws
15.6 Intellectual Property Infringement
In the event of a third-party claim that the App infringes intellectual property rights, Coincert, not Apple, is responsible for investigation and defense of such claims.
15.7 Third-Party Beneficiary
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
16. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Coincert regarding your use of the App and supersede any prior agreements.
